Wafer Paper Closed Peony - (Livestream Tutorial Recording)

$79.00

This livestream tutorial took place October 21 - 22, 2023.

You are purchasing the recordings from this live tutorial which you can begin viewing as soon as we add you to the group!

Join me in this class to make a Wafer Paper Closed Peony (a peony WITHOUT stamens)!

Peonies are a favorite of many…they are a gorgeous flower with lots of petals and a beautiful, full shape for flower arrangements. Ranging in color from white to pastel pink to deep plum, they are a favorite for wedding bouquets and wedding cakes.

Wafer paper is the perfect medium for making peonies due to the paper’s translucency and being so lightweight. You can create a flower with lots of petals, and the flower will still be light and airy. And much less fragile than a peony made in sugar!

This flower will be easier to make if you have wafer paper experience, but ALL interested students are welcome…you will get plenty of repetitive practice making petals, so you can improve your skills quickly.

Our peony is full of petals, and will initially take some time to create. But once you learn how to shape and attach the petals, you can definitely simplify the layers to work more quickly for production purposes. We will be working in white, but I’m happy to suggest other colorways in the group.

Along with the Facebook livestream video instruction, this tutorial includes petal and calyx templates, and a PDF workbook with a list of all the tools and supplies you will need to make and finish a closed peony flower. Plus you will have access to me in the group for any questions you may have!

This tutorial includes:

  • Basic introduction to wafer paper conditioning and coloring + make wafer paper glue

  • How to shape petals for all the layers of a closed peony (a peony WITHOUT stamens)

  • How to layer and assemble petals to create a closed peony shape

  • Making and adding the calyx for a more realistic look

  • Taping and finishing the stem

  • Simple dusting tips to add depth and highlights

  • Tool + supply lists and templates

  • BONUS lesson for a super cute peony bud!

  • Q + A and troubleshooting with me during the tutorial AND ongoing in the Facebook group

  • Access to the recordings and materials whenever it’s convenient for you!
